Founded in the 10th century, Wroclaw is a city with loads of history. Passed back and forth from country to country for over 1000 years, the city of Wroclaw has accumulated turbulent yet immensely rich and unique history. Reflecting Polish, Czech and Prussian-German influences, the city's name itself had been changed many times, e.g. Wrotizla, Wretslaw, Presslaw, Bresslau, Breslau. Second World War brought destruction to Wroclaw as it was destroyed in 70 per cent. Thanks to hearty efforts in the post-war decades and numerous present-day initiatives, Wroclaw is today considered to be one of the most beautiful European cities.
