EURO 2012

Wroclaw is one of the four Polish cities hosting the biggest football tournament on the Old Continent in 2012.

Euro 2012 Poland & Ukraine brings an unprecedented boost for new sports facilities and infrastructure for both countries. Both nations will also benefit greatly from a strong stimulus to their respective economies.

The new Wroclaw's stadium 'Arena Wratislavia' will seat 42 thousand spectators. It will be a multifunctional facility. Apart from football matches, it will also function as a concert venue. Just below the stands, there will be four separate buildings including the largest fitness club in Wroclaw, casino, disco club and many board-rooms. All the works will last until March 2011.

There is also a number of investments outside of the stadium. By 2012, Wroclaw plans to build or renovate more than 30 km of city roads, with a particular focus on those which are close to the football stadium, or those connecting the stadium with the airport and the city’s ring road. Other vital investments include: modernisation of the Railway Station, Wroclaw airport, broadening the accommodation base.

Wroclaw will host three group stage matches. Poland's third group stage match, which may be decisive for their qualifying to the knockout stage, will be played in Wroclaw (while the first two in Warsaw)! Wroclaw has a joined group with the capital Warsaw, while Poznan is together with the port city Gdansk.  

Wroclaw economists expect that the profits will fly high during the Euro tournament. Tickets sale for the three group matches will bring at least 1 million Euro, while major concerts and other events hosted on the stadium shall yield yet more revenue. It is estimated that annually Wroclaw Stadium will be the stage of 5-6 concerts and around 45 sporting events.
